Welding is used for joining materials for constructing structures like rails, bridges, ships, pipelines, pressure vessels, missiles, space ships, gas cylinders and many more things. It is also used for repair and maintenance of worn out or broken / cracked components. It is a manufacturing process which finds applications in any industry. There are people working as Welding Engineers, Welding Supervisors and Welding Technicians – totaling about 800,000 in our country. It has a big role in the industrial development of any country. Today welding technology has advanced so much that welding engineers need to have knowledge of interdisciplinary courses like welding metallurgy, welding processes, joint design, heat transfer, fluid flow and the like. The welding course coverage of any university curriculum for UG Program in Mechanical Engineering /Metallurgical Engineering is normally very meager – about 20% of a full semester course on manufacturing processes. The students undergoing such courses do not develop much appreciation of the subject since the total time and slot available for the content under welding technology is rather very limited, it is suggested that every university should introduce an elective course on Welding Technology during the pre-final year or final year program. The students opting for such an elective course will be able to build a career in welding and related activities and will have a good job prospect.

Alternatively, an engineering institution can introduce an optional non- credit (but mandatory) Certificate course on Welding Technology. Incidentally, many universities encourage the students to study a few non- credit Certificate courses for value addition and furthering their career prospects.

Welding Technology become more advance quickly during the early 20th century. Welding is a fabrication process used to join materials, usually metals or thermoplastics, together. It is more in demand during the First and Second World War. It provides a great opportunity for those students who want to make a career in welding technology or welding engineering. It reduces unemployment from the world. There are number of welding institutes in India provides vocational courses and technical training in welding. After completion of courses Institutes provides a certificate. These certificates are helpful for learner to searching a job. Ador Welding Academy Pvt Ltd has developed curriculum modules that can be introduced in Polytechnic and Engineering Colleges at the pre-final year/ final year of the program. These curriculums also include actual practice sessions and working on a production-shop related welding project. The placement service of the academy also provides employment linked-services.

The University of Southampton has come a close second to the University of Surrey in the quest to be named the best university for nursing in England, according to the Times Good University Guide.

The title of best university for nursing is awarded according to factors like graduate employability, student satisfaction, and student/teacher ratio.

Official statistics showed 100% of Southampton nursing degree students found employment after graduating; making the university one of the hot favourites to be crowned best university for nursing.

But this was not to be; with the University of Surrey just edging out its south coast rival to claim the coveted title of best university for nursing.

The University of Southampton recorded a student satisfaction rate of 81%, with 68 % of candidates graduating with either a first or 2:1 degree classification. Statistics also revealed that nursing degree students at Southampton benefited from 17 teaching staff for every student, and a figure of 5,351 spent per student on teaching.

Being the best university for nursing is an accolade of which any university would be rightly proud. Especially in 2011/2012, as more would-be students apply to study nursing than any other degree subject.

Professor Jessica Corner, who is Dean of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton and originally trained as a nurse herself, said: Our programmes benefit from close partnerships with practice settings, clinical leaders and close involvement with healthcare service users.

We are student-centred, meeting the needs of students with differing learning styles and learning needs, we take pride in offering a unique, values-based approach to our educational delivery to the advantage of each of our students. She added.
Health Sciences offer you much more than just a degree. We are training the next generation of professionals in nursing, midwifery, health and social care, physiotherapy, podiatry and occupational therapy in a supportive and friendly environment.
Our impressive research portfolio means you will learn from academics who are directly involved in influencing the quality of healthcare. You will learn alongside students from many other disciplines in the health sciences to gain a thorough knowledge of healthcare.((Employers appreciate Southampton graduates, in 2009, 93 per cent of our graduates found work or went into further study. pupils were imprisoned Tuesday included in the massive Columbia University narcotic bust. The students stated nothing that morning while they were handcuffed and taken away. The pupils are being charged for marketing narcotics worth thousands of dollars, and they did it straight form dorm rooms and fraternity houses. Possibly if they could find out how to get a payday advance loan they might not have been selling narcotics. Resource for this article – Columbia University drug bust – five students arrested by MoneyBlogNewz.
Those possible associated with the Columbia University drug bust
Paying tuition had been the reason given by student for selling drugs. The Columbia Spectator reports that this was the response from suspects in the Columbia University drug bust. 20 year old Adam Klein, Chris Coles, Jose Perez and Harrison David along with 22 year old previous student council member Michael Wymbs were all charged with selling LSD, Adderall, marijuana, ecstasy and cocaine on school campuses in their dormitories and fraternity houses.
Wymbs had been expected to be released Tuesday night after being the only one prepared to pay the $25,000 bail said a spokesperson for the Narcotics Prosecutor’s Office. The other four were taken away. Rikers Island was where they went. The primary target of the investigation had been really David. An $880 sale of about 20 grams of cocaine had been sold by him in September, as he had been the only one to sell cocaine. The first few purchases by undercover detectives came from David when the other four were in October and Nov. finally introduced to the drug deal game. July had been when the investigation was started. About $11,000 in sales went to undercover officers only since then with the Columbia University drug bust.
    These were good students before
In terms of grades and extracurricular, defense lawyers spoke highly of the students associated with the Columbia University drug bust. Michael Wymbs said to a detective that his father wouldn’t pay for his tuition forcing him to sell drugs, although he was the Engineering Student Council’s vice president in 2007 to 2008 for his class. Chris Coles was like Wymbs a bit in that he had a clean record and a 3.5 GPA before the drugs. He said paying tuition had been the reason for selling drugs as well. Jose Perez (aka Stephan Vincenzo) is a prestigious Gates Millenium Scholar who has “limited financial ability,” reports to Bloomberg.
The university site explains that the 2010-11 academic year of tuition is costly. It runs about $41,600.

In the UK Teaching Assistants are still not officially required to hold any formal qualifications. However, in reality most schools now only fill new Teaching Assistant posts with qualified people. This means completing a Teaching Assistant Course is a good move.

Finding the correct Teaching Assistant course for you takes a little of your time and some careful research. There are 2 main kinds of Teaching Assistant courses available. They are divided up into work related or work based courses, a subtle but important difference. Which course you can take depends on your personal work circumstances.

The NVQ courses are all work based. To qualify to do an NVQ course you need to currently be working in a classroom, in an assistance role. You will also need to find a teacher or a similar person to act as a mentor for you. Your role at the school need not be a paid role you could just be working at the school as a volunteer.

Instead of taking an NVQ course you could choose to take a BTEC course instead. Like the NVQ a BTEC course is work based, so you must be working in a classroom to complete the course. There are 3 levels of BTEC course, which is right for you depends on your current level of responsibility and how experienced you are. In order to take a BTEC course you usually need to have passed a few GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.

There are several other Teaching Assistant Certification or Diploma courses that do not require you to be currently working in a classroom. These are considered to be work related courses. You can take these courses remotely without stepping foot in a classroom, however at the end of most of these courses you are usually assessed in a classroom environment.

What Will I Learn in Photography Courses?

There are a number of skills to learn when you embark on increasing your understanding of photography. The depths to which these courses go and the topics they cover vary depending on the program. However, many courses have some basic topics in common.

The basics of photography include a number of components, including film, speed, composition and lighting. These are the cornerstones of learning to shoot well-composed pictures. Companies offering photography courses may package these concepts in a class called Photography 101 or Photography Basics. A good course will focus first on the basic concepts of photography first, such as film and processor speeds, and move into the physical portion of taking photographs. One of the most important parts of learning photography is sticking to a specific concept or act until you master it. For example, if you select a camera speed, you should continue to shoot at that speed until you completely understand how it works.

Once you cover the basic concepts and actions of photography, you may move into the tools used by photographers. Such courses may cover tripod usage, film, lenses and flashes. Each of these tools is essential to creating better photographs. Intermediate courses may move into the composition, lighting and topics that emphasize advance focusing, f-stop and aperture. Other subjects may include portraiture, action photography and photo editing.

    What Equipment Will I Need?

The type of equipment you choose relies heavily on what you want to accomplish and what makes you comfortable. Cameras can cost a substantial amount of money, along with the purchase of lenses, data communications tools, flashes and equipment. If you would like to learn film photography, you can use a single lens reflex, or SLR, camera. If you prefer the ease of sharing and transferring your photographs digitally, a digital single lens reflex, or DSLR, camera may be suitable. You can even learn photography using some of the more advance point-and-shoot systems, which cost less and do not require as much equipment.

The basic items you should obtain are the camera itself, any film you plan to use, and if applicable, a tripod, carrying case and at least one additional lens. This will provide you a solid starter kit that offers some flexibility in producing a range of photographs.

An assessment carried out by All About Uni found that Scotland has the highest density of the World’s Top-500 universities in the United Kingdom. All About Uni is an independent, global and interactive website where visitors can obtain information about universities (global rankings, student reviews, university news and campus pictures).

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) is produced by the Institute of Higher Education at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Several indicators of academic or research performance are used to establish the ranking, these include highly cited researchers, articles indexed in major citation indices and staff winning Nobel Prizes.

The Worlds Top-500 universities (2008) are mainly located in Europe (n=210; 40%), the Americas (n=190; 40%) and the Asian/Pacific region (n=100; 20%). There are 42 (8%) universities located in the United Kingdom (UK), representing 20% of the universities in Europe.

The top-10 universities in the UK are: University of Cambridge (ranked 4th in the world), the University of Oxford (10th), University College London (22nd), Imperial College London (27th), The University of Manchester (40th), University of Edinburgh (55th), University of Bristol (61st), University of Sheffield (77th), Kings College London (81st) and University of Nottingham (82nd).

The UK has the highest number of universities in the Worlds Top-500 universities (42) compared to the other European countries: Germany (40), France (23), Italy (22), the Netherlands (12), Sweden (11) and Spain (9). In the ranking of Europe’s Top-10 universities, five are located in the UK and in the Top-25 universities, 9 are located in the United Kingdom.

The UK universities are located in following regions: England (34), Scotland (5), Wales (2) and Northern Ireland (1). An interesting difference is that universities in Scotland are much older than in the other three regions: the median age of the Scottish universities is 513 years (range 127-598) compared to 101 years (range 39-912) in England and 107 years (range 88-125) in Wales.

In order to make a comparison with other industrialized countries, All About Uni calculates the number of universities in the Worlds Top-500 (2008) per one million inhabitants. The overall number of universities per million inhabitants in industrialised countries is 0.5. An earlier assessment found that small countries in Western Europe (Sweden (1.2), Finland (1.1) and Switzerland (1.0)) and New Zealand (1.2) have the highest number of universities per million inhabitants.

The number of universities in the Worlds Top-500 universities that are located in the UK is 0.7 per million inhabitants, which compares favourably with other large industrialized countries: Canada (0.6), Germany (0.5), United States (0.5), France (0.4), Italy (0.4) and Japan (0.2). For the four regions of the United Kingdom, the numbers are as follows: Scotland (1.0), England (0.7), Wales (0.7) and Northern Ireland (0.6).

    Conclusions
Within the UK, Scotland has a much higher density of top universities compared to England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Scotland also performs very well compared to other industrialised countries and the number of Scottish universities per million inhabitants is one of the highest in the world.
